Our team, Summit Cycling, had a great start to the racing season this past weekend. Ten of us went racing in the unseasonably cold temperatures and gusting winds through blueberry country in South Jersey for the Pedal Power Road Race Series. We had two podiums for first and third, and a total of four guys making the top ten across Cat 4 and Cat 5 races.
With a total of ten jerseys across a couple of races, the team had a great presence that helped its success. I heard mumurs and other rumblings throughout the field about Summit. Tactically and psychologially we had an advantage. The key of course is to take advantage of that. In my Cat 5 race I think we did so with a lot of success. We attacked, we blocked, and kept a good control over the Cat 5 race with a great run-in towards the last corner and finish.
After such a great weekend, I'm disappointed I won't be able to make next weekend's race. However, I have great confidence that my teammates, Mark, Dino, Rob, and Scott, can bring home another win and fill out the top ten. I'm so glad I'm on this team and that they helped me to score the win for the season opener.
